   The Optimist Club of St. Charles awarded scholarships to six high school seniors at the Annual Awards Ceremony. The scholarship recipients and their parents were guests at the weekly Optimist Club Luncheon. This year’s awardees include Alexandra Powell, Lutheran High St. Charles; Bryten Kendrick, St. Charles High; Molly Hoffmann, Duchesne High; Aubri Salinas, Orchard Farm High; Lucy Voelki, St. Charles West High; and Emily Johannes, St. Charles High. Mike Ebert (scholarship committee chairman) introduced each student, sharing not only their high school/community accomplishments, but also their college plans, and their intended field of study.
   “Friend of Youth” is the organization’s motto, and our members were honored to be considered “friends” of these remarkable young people. Club President Rick Daleen expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the students, parents, and the educational programs offered by the St. Charles School District, the Orchard Farm District, Duchesne High School, and Lutheran High School-St. Charles. The St. Charles Community can be proud of the efforts of the local schools to prepare their students for the future.
