   The Optimist Club of St. Charles awarded scholarships to four high school seniors at the Annual Awards Ceremony. The scholarship recipients and their parents were guests at the weekly Optimist Club Luncheon. This year’s awardees are: Addison Kersting (St. Charles High School), Jessica Ruffing (Orchard Farm High School),  Laraya Duncan (St. Charles West High School), and Lauren Lesinski (Duchesne High School). Unfortunately, Laraya Duncan was not able to attend the ceremony.
   Mike Ebert (scholarship committee chairman) introduced each student, sharing not only their high school/community accomplishments, but also their college plans, and their intended field of study.
   “Friend of Youth” is our organization’s motto, and fellow Optimists were honored to be considered “friends” of these remarkable young people. Club President Gerry Prinster expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the students, parents, and the educational programs offered by the St. Charles School District, the Orchard Farm District, and  Duchesne High School. The St. Charles Community can be proud of the efforts of the local schools to prepare their students for the future.
